Title: Survivability Manager Reports To: Director of Engineering

Job Summary:
The Survivability Manager is a key role within the engineering team, focused at delivering the highest levels of survivability to the platform and crew for the Next Generation Combat Vehicle/Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (NGCV/OMFV) program. They are responsible for defining and delivering a balanced system design composed of physical, active and signature management solutions to ensure a highly capable and adaptable survivability solution for the future battlefield.
Essential Functions:
· Engineering support for all US Structures & Survivability Engineering activities
· Responsible for defining and delivering a balanced system design composed of physical, active and signature management solutions to ensure a highly capable and adaptable survivability solution for the future battlefield
· Armor integration
· Lead a team by example, ensuring adherence to all agreed process and operating procedures.
· Assess cost, weight and optimize a solution for the vehicle
· Materials ballistic performance & application
· Develop the organizational structure within the US VSD team to promote clear responsibilities and provide opportunities for team members to succeed in their roles.
· Manage relationships with all stakeholders to ensure performance is optimized and be able to manage the political dimensions associated with a high profile program.
· Support and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations & policies.
· Act as the Design Authority for survivability, including safety analysis and body of evidence generation
· Apply working knowledge of the three primary disciplines of system survivability spanning physical protection, active protection and signature management to determine a balanced system design
· Control and deliver a large scale project, including financial expenditures
· Provide final approval of Technical Documents and Safety Statements according to law and/or contractual conditions.
· To lead system levels trade studies and analysis to determine a balanced system design
· Provide leadership and guidance to the survivability engineering team;
· Specify and lead both sub-system and system level qualification trials
· Undertake other duties as determined by the Engineering Director or his/her delegate.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
· Currently holds or has the ability to obtain SECRET US Defense clearance
· 5 plus years of experience as a Subject Matter Expert in Survivability
· Mechanical and Electrical engineering vehicle principles
· Applied working knowledge in the domain of survivability, with a proven track record of delivery from concept to series production
· Have the ability to manage indirect reports and grow into managing a team of direct reports
· Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement.
· Familiarity with the US Army TACOM / TARDEC.
· Detailed knowledge in Systems Engineering and related Standards/ Processes
· Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently.
· Currently holds or has the ability to obtain US Defense clearance up to TOP SECRET.
· Detailed knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering and vehicle principles.
· Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and regulations.
· Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
Education:
· BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Structural, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive)
Experience:
· Min 10 Years’ Experience in delivering large complex US Defense programs
· Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-organizational and corporate environment.
· Experience with bid capture, contract negotiations and delivery planning.
· Experience with CAx (i.e. UG Nx, Solid Works, CATIA, pro E) software and 3D printing.
· Experience with engineering and supply chain management in a highly regulated industry.
Background Prerequisites:
· Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
· All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if the position requires it.
Preferred Qualifications:
· MSc Engineering desired (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Management)
· Ability to speak German is desirable
